Lanie came for a visit. It's been WAY too long since we've seen Lanie, so we are particularly glad that she came.
One of our adventures was to attempt to go snow-shoeing. We were hampered a bit by the fact that my boots gave Lanie some wicked blisters. But good sport that she is, she didn't complain…
The other thing that somewhat hampered our adventure was the lack of snow! Of course, immediately after Lanie left it snowed… and snowed… so the next time we go up to Eldora, there ought to be 4 feet more of snow than there was for Lanie's visit. Murphy's law!

Why? Because it was a Thursday.
I had the day off. It was a nice day. We had the evening to ourselves. So what better to do than to open a 2007 Bell Cab? Nothing, really….
We made this our dinner. And our dinner was excellent.

Journal club rocks: thanks, Mark!
We had an amazing journal club with our internal medicine group and the interventional radiologists. Tom somehow convinced our friend Mark that being a "guest chef" would be fun. (Can you say, "Huck Finn?")
The appetizers were a medley of crostinis: one was eggplant, one mushroom, and prosciutto & fig. Delicious.
The first course was a root vegetable stew, with white beans, potatoes, & carrot.
Tom had been really wanting to do a prime rib course, particularly for one of my partners named Dave. However, we have another partner who is a vegetarian. So Mark & Tom devised this plate for Laurie:
But before the main course, there was an amazing mushroom strudel course with a "side salad" of peppers & zucchini.
The main course was smoked prime rib with a wine reduction. The side dish was a potato au gratin.
The dessert was my contribution: a red wine chocolate cake, topped with whipped cream & berries.
A very good time was had by all!
