my favorite sounds

The sound of Aspen trees rustling in the wind is incredible. It has definitely become one of my very favorites sounds (along with Sable's purr, the sound of the coffee grinder, and the sound of the ice-cream maker churning away). I now have dozens of pictures of Aspen groves -- I hope our new house will have some of these beautiful trees.

zen and the art of trout fishing

Tom's got some mojo going on... when we were eating our snack at Dude's Fishing Hole, the stock truck drove up! Tom was so happy: even though we had to leave (I had to go to work), he returned to fish that afternoon (and the next day).

We went to Golden Gate Canyon State Park to escape the "heat" this week (it was 90 degrees down here). Fortunately, this is only 35 min away from our apartment, and it's up at 8,700 feet. It was so comfortable up there!

Frisco BBQ challenge

Last weekend Tom had a gig in Frisco, CO. This is a small town near Breckenridge -- up at about 9,000 feet. The town hosts a BBQ challenge every year -- with categories for sauces, chicken, pork, brisquet, and I don't know what else! It was a tasty gig...

I took this photo to show Tom's view from the stage -- the snow-capped mountains in the background, with blue skies and big, puffy clouds made it an absolutely perfect evening.

The gentleman who owns this armadillo-BBQ told Tom that he'd made it himself 25 years ago. He said, "It eats wood, pees grease, and craps ashes."

Stella & Chic

Stella was groovin' on Tom's music for hours! Her dancing was very popular with the crowd. When the songs were over, she'd yell, "Woo-hoo!" and then, "More!"

Steve & Lanie say that Angus is the "Canadian surfer dog" because he's so laid back. Duu-uuu-uu-uuu-uude.

We enjoyed what I expect is a rare day in Seattle: it was warm & sunny. The dog park borders a lake (Union Lake?) which looked like lots of fun for most of the pooches...

Do I have to?

Angus is a "Golden Doodle" -- which Steve assures me means he is half Golden Retriever and half Poodle. He didn't seem to want to go in the water, nor was he excited about retrieving things (like this ball). I told Steve I'm not so sure about the Golden half of his heritage...

Angus is a 70 pound lap dog. Tom was in heaven!

We visited Steve & Lanie this weekend in Seattle -- we had a great trip. We saw the market (complete with fish mongers), went to the dog park, went out for 2 wonderful dinners (including a FABULOUS Central American place), had a great meal at home -- fresh pasta prepared by Tom -- and had time to relax and visit. The visit was too short!

Greg: eat your heart out!

Steve took us to Brauwer's this weekend. Their claim to fame is offering about 400 different kinds of beer (most of them Belgian). Of course, I had cider...
We were all happy with the food: I had smoked trout, and Tom had a lamb-burger. I would definitely recommend to try this place!
We were also happy to finally meet Greer (and Janith, who had left by the time we had this picture taken).

Stella is a good dancer

Stella loved Tom's guitar -- she danced when he played, and strummed on the strings. Whenever he stopped, she signed, "More! More!"
