rockin' out in the studio

After a scrumptious dinner, there was great music. We miss these jam-sessions quite a bit.

BBQ at Jeff & Tammy's

Jeff & Tammy were nice enough to host a BBQ for us on Sunday. We had so much fun -- and of course, there was wonderful music....

Tom has competition

When Sarah & Erik were here, Tom introduced them to his favorite hot sauce: Captain Spongefoot chipotle sauce. He loves that it has great smoky flavor, and a little bit of heat -- but not enough to burn your tastebuds.
Well, Tom has been buying this hotsauce by the "big bottle" (or so I thought) -- which is shown on the left. Erik outdid him: he's buying it by the half-gallon!

breakfast from Luna

I'm not sure why, but Luna (Sarah & Erik's chicken) has started laying eggs again -- after quite a long hiatus. Each morning that I was at Sarah & Erik's, I got treated to a fresh-egg breakfast, and fresh-squeezed tangelo juice. This was a spa-experience all in itself!

the gang at Amano

Friday night, we all went to dinner & got to hear Steve play a blues gig. Very cool.

spa day

The ladies had a wonderful day at the spa on Friday -- we sat on the patio & had drinks & appetizers, enjoyed the jacuzzis, got massages, etc. etc. Anu decided that we need to do this every year.

Sarah & Erik's new patio -- Yeehaw!

Sarah & Erik have been busy xeriscaping their front yard (it looks so awesome!). Erik made a brick patio using reclaimed bricks (they had previously been someone's house, and were recycled at the time of demolition). The wicker deer is Sarah's dad's contribution....

donation #2 -- before & after

I've been anxiously awaiting (for about the last 12 months) when my hair would be long enough to donate again -- but also long enough so that after the cut, there'd be something left to work with. Last week we went to AZ, and I returned to my favorite (and most-trusted) hairdresser. She did the job, and for fun -- she straightened my hair afterwards. (Of course, as soon as I got my hair wet, it zinged back up in all its curly splendor...)

just like dear old dad

The work bench,

I have been building a work bench in the garage the last couple of days. most of it came from a recycle center near our house. The bench top is two solid core doors at the advice of the man who works there and they worked great. This is a long standing tradition in the post family. A house just doesn't feel like home until you hang your tools up and fill a drawer or two with bolts and screws and all the junk you might need someday to fix or build or just tinker with something. It seems a work bench says a lot about a man, his hopes and dreams like unused tools purchased to build an extravagant new something in the future. Or the comforting items from the past like an old wrench handed down several generations or an old record player from childhood that is in constant need of repair (thank goodness). I have seen some work benches purchased just for show and never a tool used, such a pity. the Post men have always been "work bench folk." I didn't know my grandfather, but spent much time
in his workshop in West Virginia and a fine work bench too. of coarse growing up, my dad always had a great shop, and for a kid it was a good place to waste time. With sharp things and heavy metal things, chunks of wood, tools that were older than i was, and would probably look the same when I'm dead , and a big drawer full of nuts and bolts and all manner of odds and ends that would keep me occupied for hours looking for just the right size bolt for what ever I was doing. My parents built a new house when I was older and of coarse dad built a new bigger and better bench but it wasn't the same to me. My brother has always had a nice bench. his current bench seems to be taking over his garage but I'm sure he has it under control. my nephew Tyler will be the next Post work bench builder. I'm sure when my brother and I are too old to use our work benches, he will gather bits and pieces of ours and add them to his own. and so it goes; I am very happy with my new bench and the new house seems a lot more like home.

p.s. this is what happens when I haven't written a song in a while.

weather for those with ADHD

People often comment that in Colorado, if you don't like the weather -- wait an hour. This seems to be particularly true recently. On Saturday, we had record-breaking highs (I think it got to 75 degrees -- Tom even went fishing!). Sunday, it snowed 3+ inches. (Of course, the streets/ground were so warm that most of the snow didn't stick). Yesterday, you can see our weather: full of sun & blue skies again. Tom and I took the opportunity to go on a nice little hike before I went to work -- it was gorgeous.
