Last weekend, we had a wonderful mini-vacation in Keystone (up in Summit County). There was a wonderful confluence of events: one of my pediatric hospitalist partners was getting married, I had the weekend off, and we have very generous friends who offered us the use of their condo for the weekend. Could it be any more perfect?
We had a great weekend. Very relaxing. Did I take any pictures of us all dressed up for the wedding? Of course not! (But you can take my word for it: we cleaned up nicely.) We had an awesome hike/amble along the Tenmile Creek. It was a perfect day: good weather, nice hike, Tom caught some fish, and then an open bar at the wedding. How are we living? Living Large!!!!

word
My pediatric-hospitalist partners recently went to a "paint by numbers" place. (OK, so it's not really paint-by-numbers, but that's what it feels like. They walk you through painting a specific painting, all the while encouraging you to buy alcohol.) These are two of my partners, Brian and Courtney. As you can see, we were all taking our artistic endeavors very seriously. For those of you in medicine, can you imagine a bunch of internists doing this? Hahahaha.

visiting Brainard
Despite our crazy-ass weather, we still went up to Brainard Lake to walk around. As usual, it was gorgeous. Fortunately, it only sprinkled for a few minutes, and only rained when we got back to the parking lot. And, the moose were kind enough to come on out to say hello.
crazy Colorado weather
This weekend, Steve & Tiffany Metz and Steve Hubbell all came to Colorado to visit. One of the big reasons we all chose this weekend was that the Whiskey Bottles were going to play a benefit gig for Mending Faces.
As I was in the process of trying to convince all of our guests that they should move to Colorado, we had the craziest weather I've ever seen. It was an amazing storm. Fortunately, where we were -- although it was bad enough to create havoc for the Mending Faces event -- it wasn't as bad as it was at our house. In Erie, there was a "microburst" (I think) with 70 MPH winds, hail, and 3" of rain in 45 min. As you can see, the garden took it in the shorts... and I'm not sure what will ultimately become of the butternut squash!
So if you've ever wondered what it would look like if you aimed a gigantic salad shooter at your house... here you go.
Fortunately for us, most of this amounted to some hassle, but not much else. Some of our neighbors, however, took water on in their basements, and others lost roofs. Yuck.
